Albacete Balompié is a historic Spanish football club based in Albacete, currently competing in La Liga 2. Founded on August 2, 1940, the club has experienced the highs and lows of Spanish football, with multiple promotions and relegations between divisions. Nicknamed “Queso Mecánico” (The Mechanical Cheese) in reference to their industrial roots, Albacete enjoyed their golden era in the 1990s, when they spent five consecutive seasons in La Liga (1991-1996) under the guidance of Benito Floro.
The club is known for its resilient spirit and has been a stepping stone for players like Andrés Iniesta (who had a brief loan spell in 2012), Iván Campo, and Kiko Narváez.
