1. About these Terms
Welcome to The Retro Kit. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) set out the rules for using our website at theretrokit.com (the “Site”) and for buying our products. By using the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
Please read them carefully. If anything is unclear, contact us at info@theretrokit.com before you order.
These Terms were last updated on the date shown above. We may update them from time to time — the version on the Site at the time you place an order is the version that applies to that order.
2. About us
The Retro Kit is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], a company registered in England and Wales with company number [COMPANIES HOUSE NUMBER] and registered office at [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS].
Our trading website is theretrokit.com. We sell retro and retro football shirts to customers worldwide. Our sister site at thenewkits.com sells current-season kits.
You can contact us by email at info@theretrokit.com or in writing at the address above.
3. Using our website
You’re welcome to browse, search, and shop on theretrokit.com. When using the Site you agree:
- Not to use it in any way that breaks UK law or harms our business or other users.
- Not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, data, or other accounts.
- Not to scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content for resale or redistribution.
- Not to use bots, scripts, or automated tools to place orders, manipulate stock, or interfere with the Site.
- Not to upload malicious code, viruses, or anything that could damage the Site or other users’ devices.
We reserve the right to suspend or close any account, or refuse any order, where these rules are broken — or where we have reasonable grounds to suspect they will be.
4. Your account
You don’t need an account to place an order — guest checkout is available. If you choose to create one:
Account security
You’re responsible for keeping your password secure and for any activity that happens under your account. If you think someone else has accessed your account, change your password and email us immediately.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing info@theretrokit.com. Closing your account doesn’t cancel any active orders or affect our right to keep records of completed orders for legal and accounting purposes.
5. Products, prices and availability
Product descriptions
We do our best to describe and photograph every kit accurately. Retro shirts vary — slight variations in colour, fabric, and condition are normal and part of what makes them what they are. Where a shirt has noticeable wear or imperfections, we describe and photograph it openly.
Pricing
All prices on the Site are shown in pounds sterling (GBP). The Retro Kit is currently below the UK VAT registration threshold, so prices do not include VAT. International customers may be charged customs duties or import taxes by their own country’s authorities — these are the customer’s responsibility.
Shipping is calculated separately at checkout based on your delivery address.
Pricing errors
We try hard to keep prices accurate, but mistakes happen. If we discover a clear pricing error after you’ve ordered (for example, a kit listed at £5 instead of £55), we’ll contact you and offer the option to either confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund. We won’t be obliged to supply at the incorrect price.
Availability
Retro stock is limited — usually one of each kit. Once a kit is sold, that’s typically it. We don’t guarantee that any item will remain available, and we may withdraw items from sale at any time.
6. Orders and payment
How orders work
When you place an order on theretrokit.com:
- You’ll receive an automatic order confirmation email. This is an acknowledgement, not an acceptance.
- We then check stock, payment, and any customisation details. The contract between us is formed only when we email you to confirm your order has shipped.
- If we can’t fulfil the order — for example, the kit turns out to be unavailable — we’ll contact you and refund any payment in full.
Payment
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, and Link, all processed securely by Stripe. Card details are encrypted and never stored on our servers.
Payment is taken at the time of order. If a charge is later refused or reversed by your card issuer, we reserve the right to cancel the order and recover any associated costs.
7. Customisation
Many of our kits can be personalised with a player name, number, and/or era patch. By their nature, customised items are made specifically for you and cannot be returned for a change-of-mind refund. This applies whether the customisation is text-based (name, number) or a patch.
You can still return a customised kit if:
- The customisation contains a printing error compared to what you ordered.
- The kit itself is faulty or not as described.
- The kit is damaged in transit.
Before checkout, please double-check the spelling, capitalisation, and number of your customisation. Once printed, it’s permanent.
If you spot a typo immediately after placing an order, message us straight away — if printing hasn’t started yet, we can usually correct it. After printing begins, we can’t.
8. Shipping, returns and refunds
The detail of how shipping works (timeframes, carriers, costs) is set out in our Shipping Policy.
Returns and refunds are covered by our Returns Policy. In short: we offer a 365-day return window for non-customised kits in their original condition. Your statutory rights as a consumer (including those under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) are not affected by these Terms.
9. Authenticity
We sell retro and retro football shirts. Each kit is sourced and inspected to confirm it matches the era and version described.
- “Original” kits are genuine shirts from the era they’re listed as. They will show some signs of age — fabric softening, washing wear, occasional minor marks. We describe and photograph any significant imperfections.
- “Reissue” or “Re-released” kits are official reproductions made by the original manufacturer or a licensed partner.
- “Replica” or “Inspired by” kits, where listed, are unofficial tributes — we’ll always say so clearly on the product page.
If you receive a kit you believe is misrepresented, contact us at info@theretrokit.com within 14 days of receiving it. We’ll investigate and, if the claim is upheld, refund you in full including return shipping.
10. Intellectual property
The Retro Kit name, logo, photography, written content, and the Site itself are owned by us or licensed to us. You may not copy, distribute, modify, or commercially exploit any of this without our written permission.
The team names, club crests, and sponsor logos shown on retro kits remain the trademarks of their respective owners. Their appearance on a kit doesn’t imply any endorsement of, or partnership with, those owners.
11. Our liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under UK law.
Subject to that, our liability for any single order is limited to the total amount you paid for that order. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses (for example, loss of profit or loss of opportunity) or for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control — couriers, customs, weather, strikes, or supply-chain disruption.
This clause does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Events outside our control
We’re not responsible for any delay or failure to perform our obligations where it’s caused by events outside our reasonable control — including but not limited to courier delays, customs holds, government action, weather events, internet outages, or labour disputes. If such an event occurs, we’ll contact you to discuss options including extending delivery times or cancelling the order for a full refund.
13. Disputes and governing law
These Terms and any contract formed under them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising in connection with them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Before going to court, we’d much rather resolve any issue directly. If something has gone wrong, please email info@theretrokit.com first — most issues can be sorted out within a day or two.
